Workkk.

Okay, so work has been extremely stressful lately and i find it more and more difficult to even show up. I work at an italian restaurant as an Assistant Sous Chef and dishwasher. I go to school monday through thursday, and work friday through sunday. I have such a hectic schedule! Fridays and saturdays i work 1130AM-1030PM, and sundays 1130AM-330PM. It doesnt seem like a lot, but in the restaurant business it is literally forever.

Ive been there for 7 months now, and at the beginning i totally loved it. I've learned how to make some amazing food, and have become quite the chef. I really enjoy cooking, especially this out of this world Italian food. We have some really great reviews in the SacBee and online, and recently we had a woman from a New York radio show come and do a piece on us. Winter has been a really hard time for us, business is really slow and its harder and harder to get customers. Summer is going to be absolutley crazy though. On a good night now, we get about 40-50 customers, and thats a lot. During summer though, we'll get about 100-150 a night. Crazy. But that means crazy good tips too. =]

I'm looking for another job though, and when i find one, im quitting this one. I just think itd be nice to get the weekends off once in a while, and have some free time. We're only open thursday-Monday, so its already hard to get time off. Im really extremely close with my bosses and coworkers though, and it'll be sad to leave them. Then again, i live five minutes away and will probably eat there as much as possible.

Its called Bocconato Trattoria. Check it out. Its really amazing and worth the drive to Somerset. Come visit!

  1. I was glad to see you said you wouldn't quit until you found a new job. Never quit one without a new one waiting in the wings...especially in this economy. My cousins never follow that advice and that is why they're always either unemployed or having to take to worst jobs out there.

  3. I feel ya man, it's tough shit having to work and school full time. But like jenny said, I wouldn't be too hasty in quitting. Does your current job have a lot of advancement opportunities or is it basically you're going to be stuck as a sous-chef/dishwasher?
